The Crocodile's Toothache - a Poem by Shel Silverstein 鱷魚牙疼

謝爾·希爾弗斯坦（Shel Silverstein）是位著名的美國詩人、創作歌手、音樂家、作曲家、插畫家、編劇和兒童文學作家。他的繪本「愛心樹」The Giving Tree 以及「失落的一角」The Missing Piece 相信很多小朋友都讀過。

他有一首詩叫 The Crocodile's Toothache，很有意思，也有點驚悚，一起來讀一讀吧。

The Crocodile's Toothache

The Crocodile
鱷魚
Went to the dentist
去看牙醫
And sat down in the chair,
坐上了椅子
And the dentist said, "Now tell me, sir,
牙醫說：「先生，請告訴我，
Why does it hurt and where?"
為什麼疼？哪裡疼？」
And the Crocodile said, "I'll tell you the truth,
鱷魚就說啦：「跟您老實說，
I have a terrible terrible ache in my tooth,"
我的牙有個地方疼得不得了。」
And he opened his jaws so wide, so wide,
它把嘴巴張得好大好大
The dentist, he climbed right inside,
牙醫就爬了進去
And the dentist laughed, "Oh isn't this fun?"
牙醫笑著說：「喔，這真是太好玩了。」
As he pulled the teeth out, one by one.
接著就一顆一顆把牙齒拔出來
And the Crocodile cried, "You're hurting me so!
鱷魚大叫：「你弄得我好痛！
Please put down your pliers and let me go."
請放下你的鉗子讓我走。」
But the dentist just laughed with a Ho Ho Ho,
但是牙醫「呵呵呵」的笑
And he said, "I still have twelve to go,
他說：「我還有12顆要拔，
Oops, that's the wrong one, I confess,
噢糟糕，這顆拔錯了，我承認，
But what's one crocodile's tooth more or less?"
不過，鱷魚牙多一顆少一顆又有什麼差？
Then suddenly, the jaws went SNAP,
突然，大嘴「喀嚓」咬下來
And the dentist was gone, right off the map,
牙醫從此在地圖上消失，
And where he went one could only guess...
他哪裡去了呢？只能隨你猜...
To North, to South, to East, to West...
北、南、東、西...
He left no forwarding address.
他沒留下轉信地址
But, what's one dentist, more or less?
不過，牙醫多一個少一個又有什麼差？
