聽了這首歌，不知道你有沒有發現
四個季節，中文習慣說「春、夏、秋、冬」
但英文則習慣說 Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall（冬、春、夏、秋）

從這個小小的差異，似乎也可以看出東西方在人生態度上的不同

一般來說，東方哲學思想是比較出世態度的
人們出生、成長、成熟、最後終不免一死
所以人生在世，不必太在意要追求什麼，也不要太計較
不如多追尋靈性的成長，看破人生的空無

相對的，西方思想則是較入世的
在荒瘠中出生、成長、茁壯
只要夠努力，最後就是豐收的季節
所以，他們較積極，會努力追求世俗的成就

如果要問，哪一種人生態度比較優？
我倒覺得如果兩種能融合，應該是最棒的吧
平時積極過日子，努力做好每件事，盡情體驗人生
但是同時要提醒自己，不要太執著，學著放下

Winter Ice-Fishing 冬季的冰釣

跟六年級的小朋友講到美國冬季的冰釣，
很多人覺得不可思議，結冰的湖怎麼可能釣魚呢？
其實這是寒帶地區常見的冬季活動。

在冬季會結冰的地方，
如美國北方、加拿大、北歐、韓國、日本、中國北方等，
冰釣是很多人喜愛的冬季活動。

湖面結冰其實只有表面十幾到幾十公分，
底下仍是魚兒悠游的湖水。
只要用特殊的鑽孔器在冰上鑽個洞，
就可以在寒冬中享受釣魚樂趣了。

二十幾年前，
Ms. Liu 第一次在美國密西根州看到 ice fishing 時也是大開眼界。
大大的湖面上，停了幾輛車，真讓我們吃驚！
湖面冰上，還看見幾間小木屋，有人就躲在裡面避寒垂釣呢。

我們當然也想嚐試這種在台灣絕對沒機會玩的活動。
但是窮留學生，買不起器材，怎麼辦呢？
沒問題，折根樹枝當釣竿，綁上釣線釣勾魚餌，
再尋個釣客離去遺留的釣魚洞，敲去上面又再凝結的薄冰，
就可以玩冰釣了。

不過，對台灣去的人來說，在冰上釣魚真的好冷啊！
就算渾身包得像粽子一樣，也凍得受不了。
所以，體驗一次就夠了，收獲還不少呢！

我們居住的世界真的很奇妙，有好多有趣的事物，等待大家去探索，去發現。
希望小朋友認真學好英文，可以讓你有更多機會也更方便去認識世界喔！

下面這支是在加拿大最北邊的 Nunavut (努納武特，主要是愛斯基摩人居住的極地) 拍的，
可以看出那裡的冰有多厚，真是不可思議！

有人質疑鑽孔器那麼長，剛開始怎麼可能使用？
答案是他們先用較短的鑽孔器鑽，再慢慢組裝加長。

Seasons In The Sun 陽光季節

這首帶點哀傷的「陽光季節」，原本是比利時歌手Jacques Brel創作於1961年的法文歌
Le Moribond （垂死者）。
後來被改編成英文，在1973年由加拿大歌手 Terry Jacks 演唱而成經典暢銷歌曲。
歌中唱出一位因病將逝的人，對朋友、家人、愛人的道別。

1999 年當紅的愛爾蘭偶像團體 Westlife 「西城男孩」重新翻唱，
讓這首經典老歌又再度風靡西洋樂壇。

在四季分明的國家，季節的變化常讓人忍不住要讚嘆大自然的奇妙。
可惜處在亞熱帶地區的台灣，我們較難領略季節變化之美。

這裡有一首歌，可以看看四季分明的地方，不同季節各有什麼好玩的事喔。

這首歌也很適合拿來玩搶答遊戲。
我會先玩過遊戲，再聽歌。

每道題目都先以　I'm thinking of a season　開頭

再說出以下句子，讓小朋友搶答季節：

In this season, we play with snowman and ice

In this season, we celebrate the Christmas holiday.
In this season, lots of new flowers are blooming.
